Hi. I’m Jay.  My wife Sarah and I have been married for 11 years, and we have a 10 year old daughter who is my pride and joy.  I pride myself of being a good husband, and an ever better father.  My family is my world!  Here’s the deal, my house is crumbling around me.  As you might guess from the picture, I am looking to repair the damage to my home before this next winter.  The majority of the damage was done during a straight line windstorm almost two years ago. The storm split a large tree that fell across our home leaving the front porch damaged and destroying what was my daughters bedroom. The destructive storm coupled with the age of the home has left us with more of a shelter than a home.
It is with regret that I say we did not have a home owners policy in effect at the time of this storm.  There was no insurance payout. The below average temperatures and extreme winds of this last winter were hard to bear, and seem to be the new normal. I would give anything to not put my young daughter and wife through even one more cold night in their own beds.

I am not the type of person that asks for help with much of anything, but this time I think this may be my last hope. I have serious medical issues that prevent me from ever being able to make the kind of money needed to fix/replace the damage to our home.  I have been disabled from an automobile
accident back in 2008. I was struck head on by a 16 year old kid. Their insurance took care of all of my medical bills, including a broken pelvis and 3 reconstructions on my arm…, and it also rebuilt our truck….but I did not nor will I pursue a civil lawsuit against them for future wage losses due to my disability now.  The unfortunate part is that with as young as I was at the time of the accident, my monthly disability amount is much smaller than one might imagine.  I do the best I can with a broken pelvis that did not heal back together and cannot be fixed due to the pins that are permanently in my back.  Although I would never dream of asking people to take pity on me, I feel like ….I am out of options.

I thank you for even reading my story and understand if you are not in the position of being able to help us. I would however ask of you to
please keep my family in your thoughts and if you believe, say a good word for us.

Thank you sincerely,

Jay Hughes
