Introduction

My partner and I we are fundraising to open our first Eat Eat Eat Hurra – La Villa in Dar es Salaam. We are both Italians and we work in the hospitality and catering since long time.

We are located in Tanzania because we run a lovely small lodge and restaurant in the South East Coast of Zanzibar for 7 years.

At the beginning of this year we had to sell our company in order to help our family in Italy to solve a big financial problem and now we are looking for a new restart.

About us

I have a catering background. After a scientific and law education ,  I step up in the catering world starting from the bar experience, trough the restaurant experience, ending to manage a small hotel and restaurant.

My partner has an hotellerie background. After a philosophy degree, she stumbled by chance in a master’s degree in economics and tourism management and from that moment she fell in love with tourism. She started in hotel with a stage at reception and trough every step in the hotel till vice general manager, she ended with managing a small hotel and restaurant with me.

We worked in Italy, Tunisia, Greece, Egypt, Switzerland, Cape Verde and Zanzibar. From the budget hotel no stars to 4 stars deluxe, from Boutique Hotel to big clubs all inclusive.

We worked so hard for many years (everyone has worked in the hospitality knows that there are no Christmas or New Year’s Eve at home with your family, but always working, working working), so it seemed we were finally rewarded by life when we found our small piece of paradise: 10 very simple rooms and a small restaurant on stilt house, white sand, barefoot, sun and smiling
people.

Then started difficulties: a big fire destroyed our stores, someone stole all our equipment and overall a big problem at home (after a painful death in the family we discovered many debts) we were forced to sell our company to pay debts.

Now we have to start everything again: but we are positive people, we believe we can do it again and maybe better!

The project

The restaurant we would like to open has a “special formula” so can be open in every big town of the world. We opted for Dar es Salaam for several reasons: we already have the Tanzanian resident and work permit, we know some words of Kiswahili, we know how it works the bureaucracy in this country, Tanzania is the only peaceful country in Africa, Dar es Salaam is a fast growing up town with a lot of business opportunity.

The Italian restaurants are the most appreciated in the world, but usually they offer fast/junk food, not anymore Italian, or expensive luxury food.

Our brand is positioned in the mid range and we want to satisfy our guests with the cuisine of the Italian grandmothers at a reasonable
price. The concept is inspired from the success are having the restaurants “All you can eat” with buffet service that involves several
positive aspects:

-Reduction of the times of service and increased possibility of replacement of the tables.

-Ability to adapt the menu seasonally and daily offering of products.

-Facility in the daily check of the food cost and reduction of wastes.

Peculiarity of the project is the preparation of the fresh pasta, that will be used as an “attraction” in the restaurant for the “Show
Cooking Corner” and can be sold to other restaurants or families creating more revenue. The main objective is a franchising of
restaurants.

 

A suspended pizza!

At Eat Eat Eat Hurrà we would like to revisit and revive a tradition of Napoli, the sunshine city of the South of Italy: the
suspended coffee. During the wartime the “caffè sospeso” was a way of being kind to strangers, paying in advance for someone’s espresso or ristretto or macchiato. The tradition says that the suspended coffee was a kindness to bring a bit of joy to someone who needed it from a person who had a special happy day.

At La Villa we would like to bring happiness to people in need. Every day we will collect on the black board of the restaurant all
the receipts with the donation of the “special suspended pizza”(at special low price, this is our part of the contribution). At
the end of the month we will organize a day to deliver all the suspended pizza to a orphanage or/and a charity mission to donate
a pizza day to people in need.

  • We found a wonderful and strategic location: it’s a villa at the border of the town, easy reachable from the town and from outside. Among the jungle of skyscrapers is the only flat place (only 2 floors), acing the ocean, with 2 big terraces and 1 big garden. The ground floor and garden are easily accessible for the busy people, at working time, offering “all you can eat”: quality and inviting Italian food, ready, changing every day with weekly regional theme. The second floor a la carte restaurant, dedicated to the people who want to enjoy the food more relaxed: for a business lunch or dinner, for a romantic date or a birthday with family. We cannot show the pictures of the Villa because is still the house of a lady who wants to move next to the son, after
    the death of the husband: please help us to block the Villa before someone else rent!

How you can help us

We are in a difficult position: we need financing, but we cannot ask it to the Tanzanian banks because we are foreigners and we don’t have properties here in Tanzania. In Italy we don’t work so we cannot guarantee the remburse of an evenctual loan. So we are blocked!

Dar es Salaam is a fast growing
city.

It’s a hub for Tanzania tourism,
because all those who want to come from abroad to visit the 3 great Tanzania
attractions (natural parks, Zanzibar island and Mount Kilimanjaro), they have
to pass through Dar es Salaam. It ‘s an important port and it’s the third
busiest airport in Africa.

We found the perfect location!

It’s at the border of the city
centre, so easily reachable from the core business at lunch time, but facing
the Ocean, so the people don’t eat in a skyscraper or facing a wall, but
breathing the Ocean smell and viewing a neverending landscape.

It’s a mixed formula!

All you can eat at the ground floor
for the people who needs to eat good food, but they don’t have much time and
money to spend. The guest can see the food and choose the preferred for
ingredients, smell or appeal (or even eat all!!!).

A la carte restaurant at the first
floor: if the occasion needs more relax.

An important business lunch, a
representative gala dinner, a family birthday or a romantic date: you have just
to seat and relax, we do the job for you.

The quality doesn’t means always
high prices!

Probably some necessary “only
Italian ingredient” must be imported and for that reason a little bit
priced, but we promise that in our restaurant you will never find spaghetti
with ketchup or Caesar salad or hawaian pizza!

Why
you are qualified to run this restaurant?

Because we worked all life long in
the hotellerie and catering.

On one side we have a strong
experience in opening restaurants and hotels, when we worked for the tour
operators. From the purchasing of the equipment and furnishings, to the
organization of the stores, from the daily supplying of food and drinks to the
calculation of the daily food cost, from the training of the waiters and
kitchen staff to the achievementof
the budgetary targets.

On
the other side there is a strong experience in marketing, loyalty and guest
relations.

Why
we have to give you money?

We are in a difficult position: we

foreigners and we don’t have properties here in Tanzania. In Italy we have
properties, but Tanzanian banks doesn’t’ accept as guarantee and we are not
employee in Italy, so we cannot guarantee the repayment of a loan. So we are
blocked!

La Villa it’s only the first step,
but we are ready with the second project to start an Eat Eat Eat franchising
all over the world!

What I gain by giving you my contribute?

We
are honest people, we cannot tell you that we want to do this for beneficence,
we want to earn with this restaurant enough to live and help our family to have
a good quality of life.

Besides
beneficence is not our job and we are not able to do it, but we are able to
provide good food, so if you help us, we can bring at least one day of joy each
month to a group of the many small orphans living in this town with the Suspended Pizza. And we will continue
with the contribution of the future guests. This we are able to do and we can
do it only if you contribute!

On
the other side, if you are travelers, sooner or later you will think about an
African safari. We know that maybe is not so usual to pass trough Dar es
Salaam, but a lot of our previous guests of the Lodge they did it and it was a
“budget” lodge.

When
you will travel to Zanzibar or a Tanzanian Safari Park or the Kilimanjaro
mountain, you have to pass trough Dar es Salaam, where you will find your point
